Construction of a new 4,500-square-foot student center at Mount Wachusett Community College started the day after commencement and will be finished less than 100 days from now, the college said Thursday.
The quick turnaround on construction means the student center will be fully operational for the fall semester, according to a press release. Located directly across from the cafeteria and facing out to Green Street, the student center will be a place where students can pass the time between classes and socialize.
It will have a lounge and meeting space, group study area, game room, and televisions. It will open out to a green space with outdoor WiFi and seating.
The center is partially funded by a $500,000 donation from Shirley manufacturer Bemis Associates, Inc. through the Bemis Community Investment Fund.
