The Museum of Russian Icons in Clinton has appointed Lana Sloutsky as the curator of collections and exhibitions, the first person to hold the new position, the institution announced on Wednesday.
Sloutsky will begin her new role on Sept. 14, according to the announcement.
Sloutsky received her Ph.D. from the history of art and architecture department at Boston University and has worked as an instructor at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, according to a press release. She has lectured at area colleges including the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and Simmons University, both in Boston, as well as Boston University.
“Having a Byzantine art specialist of Dr. Sloutsky’s skill and energy will be transformative, helping us to realize Gordon Lankton’s vision of the Museum as a leading center for Russian icons and Orthodox art,” said museum trustee Ruah Donnelly, co-chair of Collections, in a statement.
The Museum of Russian Icons was founded in 2006 and holds the largest collection of Russian icons outside of Russia.
