Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray is scheduled to officially release the state's Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) plan at the annual Massachusetts STEM summit in Sturbridge tomorrow.
Murray will deliver the summit's keynote address at 8:15 a.m. The conference is being held at the Sturbridge Host Hotel on Main Street. The STEM initiative is designed to encourage students to pursue careers in math, engineering and the sciences.
In addition to detailing the state's official STEM plan, Murray is expected to highlight funding awarded to the state that is intended for STEM initiatives.
Murray is chairman of the state's STEM advisory council. He will be joined Tuesday by several state and education officials, including Joanne Goldstein, secretary of labor and workforce development; Greg Bialecki, secretary of housing and economic development; Paul Reville, secretary of education; Jack Wilson, president of the University of Massachusetts and J. Lynn Griesemer, executive director of the UMass Donohue Institute.
The conference concludes at 4:30 p.m.
