MTD Micro Molding’s late president inducted into Plastics Hall of Fame

Dennis Tully, the president of Charlton manufacturer MTD Micro Molding who passed away in 2019, was honored with a formal induction into the Plastics Hall of Fame.
Tully, who purchased MTD Micro Molding from his father Richard in 2008 after two decades at the company, was inducted alongside other honorees on May 2 at a ceremony in Chicago. Although he was named an inductee in 2020, the formal ceremony didn’t take place until this year because of COVID-19.
Tully was recognized for his leadership in the field of miniature part design and molding, according to the hall of fame. He re-positioned the company for the medical device market, giving it a reputation for making highly precise, specialized miniature parts. MTD’s revenue grew from $1.9 million in 2008 to $8.8 million in 2019, according to the company.
Tully was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Lowell’s plastics engineering program.
MTD was named as one of the Inc. 5000 fastest-growing companies in the U.S. in 2011. It also received a Manufacturing Excellence Award from the Worcester Business Journal in 2017 and Plastics News’ Processor of the Year award in 2019.
At the induction ceremony, Tully’s wife, Darlene, accepted the award on his behalf.
“I know Dennis is smiling down tonight with so much pride and so much gratitude, and I thank you,” Darlene Tully said at the ceremony.
