MTD Micro Molding in Charlton has completed a 11,700 square-foot expansion to its manufacturing facility, bringing its total size to 27,450 feet, the company announced on Monday.
The project was completed on time, despite the coronavirus pandemic, and in the face of the unexpected death of the company’s owner president, Dennis Tully, who passed away in 2019. The expansion, announced in 2017, was Tully’s idea, according to MTD.
“We were nearing our capacity in our existing manufacturing space and needed room to grow,” Vice President Gary Hulecki said in a statement.
The expansion effectively doubles the company’s cleanroom manufacturing space and includes a new tooling department, more material storage, a new conference space, additional offices, as well as a fitness center for employees.
MTD is a single-source supplier, performing all micromolding services on-site. The expansion will help the company adapt to its ongoing growth, and also better handle the increasing need for custom packaging and assembly services, according to MTD.
