KRISTIN WOBBE, head of the department of chemistry and biochemistry at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, has been installed as the first Metzger Professor of Chemistry. The endowed professorship was established in 2007 through a $1.5 million gift from John C. Metzger Jr. and his wife, Jean. Wobbe, who joined the WPI faculty in 1995, holds a bachelor’s in chemistry from St. Olaf College and a doctorate in biochemistry from Harvard University.
The Massachusetts Association of Realtors announced that GARY BOURQUE, owner of Central Mass. Appraisals Inc. and a co-owner of Realtyology Inc. in Leominster, has been named the recipient of the 2008 Massachusetts Real Estate Educator of the Year Award.
LOU CIAVARRA, managing partner of the Worcester-based law firm of Bowditch and Dewey, has been appointed to the advisory board of the Female Leadership Interest Council (FLIC).
Worcester-based Cutler Associates has named J. ROBERT TAYLOR, president of Cutler Design, to its board of directors. Taylor joined Cutler Associates in 1990.
DAVID TUTTLE has joined Anna Maria College in Paxton as the director of the Molly Bish Center for the Protection of Children and the Elderly. He is currently the director of the Southern New England Region of the USDA. Prior to his work with the USDA, he served as the state representative for the 5th Worcester District from 1997 to 2001. Tuttle is also the owner and director of the Barre Group, an information and data management company he developed in 2004.
Leominster Credit Union is pleased to announce that SETH WISH has joined its management team as vice president of sales. Before joining LCU, he worked for First Marblehead Corp. where he was a member of its telesales management team.
MICHAEL MUDD has been promoted to senior vice president in charge of hockey and business administration for the Worcester Sharks. He enters his eighth season with the Sharks organization and his 14th year in professional hockey.
CMEA The Employers Association has named MARK G. PATRICK as president. Patrick, a resident of North Grafton, has worked with the Worcester-based organization in the past, providing members with consultation on labor, employment, and human resources issues. He is a graduate of the Holy Cross and Suffolk University Law School.
Paxton-based Anna Maria College has hired DAVID L. LEACH, the former executive director of the Worcester Center for Crafts, as its new director of foundation, corporate and government relations. Leach, a Princeton resident, will oversee grants and corporate gifts for the college.
Workscape Inc. of Marlborough has hired DIANE ALBANO, a former executive vice president at Microsoft subsidiary Fast, as its senior vice president of worldwide sales. Albano has also served as vice president of the Americas at Progress Software and vice president of global account sales for Thomson NETG.
NEIL MCDONOUGH, president and CEO of FLEXcon in Spencer, recently received the R. Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award at the LABELEXPO Americas’ Gala Dinner in Chicago. McDonough became president of FLEXcon in 1990, after working in manufacturing, sales and management.
Two employees of Sunshine Sign Co. in North Grafton have been promoted to senior technical sales consultants. JAMES N. RIEGER and JASON M. BARTHE both worked previously as senior project managers in the company’s production department and engineering division. In their new outside sales jobs, Rieger will work with general contractors while Barthe will serve architectural designers.
GoodFellas Construction of Worcester has hired SANDY THOMPSON as project designer and developer. Thompson has worked for more than 15 years in home fashion consulting and interior design. She served as senior project manager at Ethan Allen Interiors in Natick, overseeing 18 staff designers.
The Suburban Group staffing agency in Westborough has hired JUDY I. KOLESSAR as director of human resource services. Kolessar worked in HR for AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals for more than 20 years, handling performance management, employee relations, personnel policies, conflict resolution, coaching, hiring and retention strategies and other issues.
GFA Federal Credit Union has hired MIGUEL A. SENSANO as community education coordinator. Sensano will work with local groups and schools on financial education initiatives to expand financial literacy.
Davis Advertising of Worcester has brought some new talent on board. Becker College graduate TIMOTHY BROTHERS is a new graphic designer, MELISSA CALLAHAN is a new traffic and production manager and JENNIE POWERS is an account coordinator.
