MARK CARLSON, senior vice president of The Suburban Group Inc. in Westborough, has been elected president of the Massachusetts Association of Personnel Services for 2009. Carlson has been with The Suburban Group since 1999. Before joining the staffing, recruiting and HR consulting firm, he worked in the mutual fund and craft beverage industries.
DIANE FORTE, formerly of Leominster’s HealthAlliance Hospital Inc., has joined Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester as director of provider and public relations. At HealthAlliance, Forte served as director of physician services, handling provider relations, the medical staff office and medical library and employed physician practices. She previously held director positions in provider development and provider networks at Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare and Healthcare First.
The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts has elected three doctors to its board of directors: LISA R. FORTUNA, JAY S. HIMMELSTEIN and MICHAEL J. MUTCHLER. Fortuna is an assistant professor of psychiatry and director of child and adolescent multicultural health research at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Himmelstein is a professor of family medicine and community health and chief health policy strategist for the Center for Health Policy and Research at the medical school. Mutchler is a Gardner family practice physician.
Tennessee-based employee benefits company Unum has promoted three employees to vice president slots at its Worcester office. COLLEEN JORDAN, an attorney who has been with the company for 11 years, is now vice president and managing counsel in the Unum U.S. law department. NANCY KIDD BROWN, a 29-year Unum veteran, was promoted to vice president of regional underwriting, overseeing the western U.S. SCOTT WILLIAMS is Unum’s new vice president of integrated underwriting. In the position, he heads up underwriting for individual disability insurance.
The Training Associates of Westborough has hired PAUL T. KENNEY as its business development manager. Kenney has more than 25 years of sales and marketing experience in the IT industry, including at ElementK, NETg and Career Academy. He has done business development work with clients including Fidelity Investments, John Hancock, Verizon and EMC.
After 15 years with Westborough-based energy services firm Conservations Services Group, LINDA RUSSO is now a senior vice president of the organization. In her new position, Russo will oversee marketing operations, including advertising, public relations and market research. Russo served as CSG’s strategic marketing director from 1993 to 2008.
DIRAN APELIAN, director of Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Metal Processing Institute, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering. NAE is an organization of the nation’s top engineers, elected by their peers for contributions to their fields. In addition to his work at the Metal Processing Institute, Apelian is the WPI Howmet Professor of Mechanical Engineering.
The soon-to-open retirement community The Willows at Worcester has hired SHARON NOLLI as a sales counselor. Nolli is part of the four-person sales and marketing team for the community, which is scheduled to open in the fall. Nolli previously worked as the director of marketing at Whitney Place in Natick, which, like The Willows at Worcester, is owned by Salmon Health and Retirement.
Marlborough outsourced benefit and management company Workscape Inc. has promoted STEPHEN MIGLIACCIO to vice president of product management. In his new position, Migliaccio will help determine the strategy for the company’s talent management and outsourced benefits administration. He has been at Workscape since 2001, starting as a director of business development.
Rockland Trust Investment Management Group has appointed LAWRENCE G. BROWN as vice president and financial consultant. In his new position, Brown will work with MetroWest customers. Brown has worked in areas including commercial credit, wealth management and business development.
SUMNER B. “TONY” TILTON JR., a director of the Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple law firm of Worcester and Framingham, has been elected to the board of trustees of Cape Cod Healthcare. Tilton concentrates his practice in estate and trust planning and administration. He is a trustee or board member of many Worcester institutions.
Penta Communications Inc. has hired JESSE DRUJON as web development associate. In his new position, Drujon will help the firm’s clients develop their web presences. Drujon previously served as a senior web developer at Buyer Advertising in Newton, developing interactive web sites, banner ads and animation.
