Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce has elected MARK L. DONAHUE, director with Worcester-based law firm Fletcher Tilton PC, as chair of the chamber’s board of directors. Reelected to the board are: HENRY TESSMAN, director of sales and marketing of Doubletree Hotel; PAUL F. MCGRATH of Robert A. Cooper CPA; and DONNA COX, partner, Dynamx Financial Solutions. New to the slate of officers is vice chair STEVEN G. ANDERSON, vice president commercial lending, Unibank; and LINDA SEVIER, secretary, the owner of Pagetender LLC. The chamber also welcomed three new elected directors: BILL CONGDON, vice president and New England division manager, Wegmans Food Markets; KARYN POLITO, Polito Development Corp., and JOHN PRANCKEVICIUS, director of admininstration and finance, Massachusetts Port Authority.

Dean College in Franklin appointed ROBERT J. CUOMO as professor and founding dean of the college’s school of business. Most recently, Cuomo served as dean of the school of business and international commerce at Merrimack College. Cuomo has a bachelor's in economics from Merrimack College and master's and doctoral degrees in economics from Boston College. Dean College also appointed DANIEL A. MODELANE as vice president of financial services and treasurer. Modelane served most recently as director and vice president of finance with One Communications Corp. of Burlington. He has an MBA from Bentley University in Waltham and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Providence College in Rhode Island. He lives in Norfolk.

Milford National Bank and Trust Co. has hired DANIEL R. DEVINE as senior vice president and chief financial officer. He most recently worked at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston as first vice president and treasurer. Previously he served as investment portfolio manager. Devine has an MBA in finance and international business from the University of California at Davis and a bachelor’s in economics and organizational management from Brown University in Providence.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute has appointed ERIC W. OVERSTRÖM as the university’s new provost. The appointment, which follows Overström’s service as interim provost over the past academic year, is effective immediately. Overström, a Fulbright Scholar, joined WPI in 2004 as a professor of biology and head of the department of biology and biotechnology following more than 20 years at Tufts University in Boston. Overström has a bachelor’s in biology from the State University of New York at Oswego, as well as master’s and doctorate in reproductive physiology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

PATRICIA HALLBERG, CEO of Girl Scouts of Central & Western Massachusetts, has been appointed to the board of directors for Athena International, a Chicago-based organization that recognizes women’s leadership initiatives. Hallberg was an Athena Award finalist for Northeast Ohio in 2005.

Worcester investment firm Bartholomew & Co. Inc. has promoted JOSHUA A. PAUL and CHARLES E. PATTERSON to senior vice presidents. Paul was previously employed by Bear Stearns Cos. and Cape Cod Bank & Trust Co. He is a graduate of Boston College. Patterson previously worked as a treasurer for the Tantasqua Regional School District and the town of Shrewsbury. 

Southbridge Credit Union has named BARBARA PALMER branch manager at its Sturbridge location on Charlton Road. Palmer takes over branch operations from KAREN BROUSSEAU, who has been relocated to the credit union’s main office at 205 Main St. in Southbridge, overseeing deposit operations. Palmer, of Brookfield, was most recently customer sales and service manager at TD Bank. Brousseau began her career at the Southbridge Credit Union in 1994 as a teller. She was promoted to branch manager at the Charlton Road branch in 2001.

Maynard-based online learning company Virtual High School Global Consortium has hired DEBBIE KENNY of Lancaster as its new director of sales and marketing and SUE BIRRELL of Lowell as its manager of curriculum and instruction. Kenny comes to Virtual High School from Waltham-based Information Mapping Inc., where she was vice president and general manager of learning solutions. Birrell has worked as an instructional technology director in school systems, most recently for Portsmouth Public Schools in New Hampshire.

Worcester construction management firm Cutler Associates has promoted RICK LENTZ to executive vice president. He began his tenure with Cutler Associates in 2003 as the Florida regional vice president. In his new role, he will lead the company’s sales and marketing efforts across all of its markets including New England, the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast. Lentz is a graduate of the University of Florida.

Webster Five Cents Savings Bank has named BRIAN S. WESTERLIND senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer. Prior to joining Webster Five, he served as senior manager at Wolf & Co. PC. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Providence College and is a certified public accountant.

Clinton Savings Bank has named EDWARD M. POWERS senior vice president and chief lending officer. Prior to joining Clinton Savings Bank, Powers was a senior vice president in the commercial lending group at People’s United Bank. He is a Clinton resident and has a degree in business administration from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt.

BILL CONGDON of Hopkinton was named vice president and New England division manager for Wegmans Food Markets. A Wegmans employee for 35 years, he most recently served as store manager at Wegmans in Pittsford, N.Y. He has an associate’s degree in business from the State University of New York at Canton and is a resident of Hopkinton. KEVIN RUSSELL was named store manager for Wegmans’ first New England store in Northborough, set to open in October. A Wegmans employee for 25 years, he began his career as a produce clerk at the company’s Corning, N.Y., location and most recently served as store manager in Downingtown, Penn. Russell is a resident of Milford.

Commerce Bank has hired THOMAS G. BURTON as a senior vice president in the commercial lending department. Burton most recently worked as part of Citizens Bank’s regional banking team in Middlesex County. His previous commercial banking experience included positions with Key Bank, Mascoma Savings Bank, and Vermont National Bank in New Hampshire and Vermont. He earned his bachelor’s of business administration from Texas A&M University in College Station and his MBA from Plymouth State.
