ERIKA SULLIVAN, a 10-year veteran of the real estate business, has joined the Spencer office of Whitinsville-based ERA Key Realty Services. Sullivan has worked in banking, credit underwriting and mortgage origination, including a stint at Century 21 Tangney in Worcester. She has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Daniel Webster College in Nashua, N.H.

Flagship Bank of Worcester has promoted BARBARA ROACH KYES to vice president and regional manager. In her new position, Kyes will oversee community banking and corporate business development. She joined Flagship, which is a division of People’s United Bank, in 2006 as assistant vice president and market manager for the bank’s Tatnuck Square branch.

Marlborough direct-response media agency Mercury Media has hired RONALD C. PRUETT JR. as CEO. Pruett moved to Mercury from Polymedica/Liberty Medical, a publicly traded diabetic supply company that uses multi-channel direct-response marketing, where he served as executive vice president and chief marketing officer. Previously, he was CEO of Acadient, an online education company, and founding executive of Insurance.com.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute professor JOSÉ ARGÜELLO has been chosen for a one-year appointment as a program director at the National Science Foundation in Washington, D.C. Argüello, a professor of chemistry and biochemistry, will work in the division of molecular and cellular biosciences within the NSF’s Directorate for Biological Sciences. NSF supports science and engineering research and education.

The Protector Group Insurance Agency Inc. of Worcester has hired LAURA ANN MULLERY as director of compliance and wellness. She previously worked at William Gallagher Associates in Boston as assistant vice president and at Thorbahn Associates in Quincy as vice president of major accounts.

The Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts has elected DEBRA M. TOWNSLEY, president of Nichols College in Dudley, as chair of its executive committee. Townsley has been president of the college since 1998. She is a member and past chair of the Colleges of Worcester Consortium board of directors, and she serves on the board of the National Association of Independent Colleges & Universities. She is also a commissioner for the New England Association of Schools & Colleges Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.

Dover Saddlery Inc. of Littleton has named DAVID R. PEARCE to its board of directors. Pearce is executive vice president of finance and operations for Superior Cake Products Inc. of Southbridge and the previous president, CEO and CFO of Geerlings & Wade Inc., a Canton-based direct marketer of wine. He has also held executive positions at Weston Nurseries Inc., Tweeter Opco LLC and State Line Tack Inc.

GENE DEL ROSARIO, an internal medicine physician at Clinton Hospital and the president of the Clinton Hospital medical staff, was recently named to the Clinton Hospital Board of Trustees. Del Rosario has been with the hospital since 2005 and became president of the medical staff last fall.

Worcester-based financial services firm Bartholomew & Co. Inc. welcomed both BRIAN P. FOLEY and PETER C. MCMANUS as new vice presidents. Foley is a graduate of Nichols College in Dudley and McManus is a graduate of Hobart College in New York. They most recently worked at Wells Fargo Advisors.

Millbury Savings Bank has elected PAMELA B. ADAMS of Sutton as a trustee, and JOHN T. PECULIS of Charlton has been promoted to assistant vice president and commercial loan officer. Peculis, a graduate of Nichols College in Dudley, has been employed at the bank since 2006.

NED TAFT has resigned as president from Alden Research Laboratory Inc. of Holden. Dr. Stuart Cain took over his position on May 26. Cain joined Alden in 1996 and served as vice president for six years. Taft will remain on Alden’s executive team as president emeritus.

ROBERT ROBARGE of Grafton was recently hired as the Central One Federal Credit Union branch manager for the main office in Shrewsbury. He graduated from Providence College, and has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry.

GEORGE THOMPSON has joined Sager & Schaffer LLP, the Westborough-based law firm. Thompson specializes in the practice of insurance law and policyholder representation, opening up a great opportunity for it to expand the firm’s practice group in that field.
