Movers & Shakers from the December 21, 2009 Issue

ROSALIE LAWLESS was named director of human resources at Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital in Worcester. She was previously vice president of human resources for VNA Care Network and Hospice. She is also the chairperson of the Regional Employment Board of Southern Worcester County, an executive committee member at the Massachusetts Workforce Invest-ment Board, as well as a member of two Quinsigamond Community College advisory boards.

The Clinton Hospital Foundation has named longtime foundation member JEANNE PAULINO as its new president. Paulino is a Clinton native and has been part of the foundation for nearly a decade. Other newly elected foundation officials are MATT HOLLISTER, first vice president; JENNIE GRAY, second vice president and CLARK HENEBRY, treasurer; as well as new directors SHEILA DALY, DAN DITULLIO and GENARO PAEN.

Capaccio Environmental Engineering Inc. of Marlborough has hired ROBERT POJASEK, MARJORIE BRUCE and MELISSA KOCIUBA. Pojasek joins the firm as senior program director in the environmental compliance and systems group. Bruce is an environmental engineer with the firm’s engineering group. Kociuba serves as a health and safety scientist.

MITCH BADER was named executive vice president of finance and operations for Marlborough-based Mercury Media. Bader is a finance and operations expert with experience working for companies including PepsiCo, Disney, Dell, Molson Coors and Arco. Mercury Media also named CHRIS CONDERINO executive vice president of planning and corporate direct response. Conderino’s responsibilities will include launching the company’s interactive TV service. She will work jointly out of the company’s Marlborough headquarters and her New York office.

Spectrum Health Systems Inc. of Worcester recently hired ANDREW STRECKER and NICOLE LANGLOIS. Strecker is responsible for fundraising, community development, and public relations. Langlois is in charge of pursuing government grants, bringing many years of experience in proposal development and business communications to the company.

CHRISTOPHER R. BARRY joined Cutler Capital Management LLC of Worcester as managing director of institutional sales. Barry is a graduate of Boston College. He previously worked as a senior member of the sales team at Brighton House Associates, a data and service provider to the hedge fund industry based out of Marlborough.

Littleton computer software company Marathon Technologies has hired RAFAEL COSTA as vice president of worldwide sales. Costa has worked in sales for companies including IBM and Hitachi Data Systems. Most recently, he was the general manager of five business units at CDC Global Services.

The University of Massachusetts Medical School and UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester have hired DAVID M. HARLAN as director of the Diabetes Center of Excellence, division chief of Diabetes and associate director of the UMMS Diabetes and Endocrinology Research Center. Harlan is now the diabetes branch chief at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases of the National Institutes of Health.

JACKIE HOONJAN, vice president and regional manager at Workers’ Credit Union of Fitchburg, has been elected president of the Massachusetts School Bank Association. Hoonjan is also manager of the credit union’s Chelmsford branch.

The United Way of North Central Massachusetts has elected new officers and directors. BRUCE J. MAN, of Medical Associates Pediatrics, was elected chair for a one-year term. ROBERT F. CHAUVIN of SimplexGrinnell was chosen as vice chair; PATRICK L. MULDOON of HealthAlliance Hospital as campaign chair; MATT W. JOHNSON of the Fitchburg Post Office as community investment chair; DAVID A. GARRISON of Micron Products Inc. as treasurer; DANIEL M. ASQUINO of Mount Wachusett Community College as assistant treasurer; ROBERT V. ANTONUCCI of Fitchburg State College as clerk and PHILLIP M. GRZEWINSKI of the United Way of North Central Massachusetts as president. Five new directors were also elected to three-year terms: HENRY J. BOTICELLO of Simonds Industries; ELIZABETH G. DOWD of Grady Research, Inc.; JUSTIN P. GELINAS, of Gelinas and Ward LLP; LYNNE H. MAN, an evaluation and policy consultant and DEBORAH L. LAPOINTE of Enterprise Bank. STEVEN L. STONE of Sterilite Corp. was re-elected to a one-year term, and Neftali C. Pena of Sovereign Bank, to a three-year term. Joanne Tulonen of YWCA/BWRI Inc. was elected to a one-year term as an ex-officio director.

The Institute for Energy and Sustainability has named Bowditch & Dewey LLC partner VINCENT DEVITO interim executive director. The IES was founded in June to promote economic development in alternative energy.
