Movers & Shakers for Sept. 18, 2023

Worcester law firm BOWDITCH & DEWEY has received an Empowering Women award from Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly for its efforts in advancing female attorneys. The awards are selected by the magazine for legal professionals on an annual basis. This year, Bowditch & Dewey was one of 18 firms across the state chosen for the award.

BRANDON HUGHEY

The Boys and Girls Club of Fitchburg, Leominster & Gardner has appointed BRANDON HUGHEY as the new director of the Gardner Clubhouse. Hughey previously spent eight years as a teacher in Gardner Public Schools. He holds a degree in elementary education from Indiana University Bloomington. In this new role, Hughey will develop new programming for the Gardner chapter and expand the reach in the community.

SUZANNE HOFMANN has been appointed vice president of marketing and communications at Nichols College in Dudley. Hofmann was previously senior director of executive communications at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. Hofmann will oversee Nichols' marketing, communications and branding efforts and work to build the college’s brand. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Richmond in Virginia and a bachelor's degree from the University of Maine.

DANIEL D’AMICO

Cornerstone Bank in Worcester has named DANIEL D’AMICO vice president, commercial banking officer. He was previously the assistant vice president, commercial banking officer at the financial institution, and has been promoted to extend his responsibilities in collaborations and customer service. D’Amico holds a bachelor’s degree from Worcester State University and is a certified fraud examiner through the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Anna Maria College in Paxton has added four local professionals to its board of trustees. Joining the board are STEPHEN CAREY, an Anna Maria grad who is vice president of human resources at Polar Beverages in Worcester, ENOCH KYEREMATENG, director and chaplain of the African Catholic ministry for the Diocese of Worcester, BASIL MORRIS, senior vice president and chief strategy officer at The Hanover Insurance Group in Worcester, and MARK POWERS, partner at Bowditch & Dewey in Worcester. DAVID TRAINOR, vice president of human resources at Boston College, is the new chair of the board.

Dr. DONALD CZERNIACH

Milford Regional Medical Center has named Dr. DONALD CZERNIACH as its director of metabolic bariatric surgery. Czerniach co-founded Milford regional’s FreshStart weight loss program in 2013. He is a graduate from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark and completed his surgical residency at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

ERA Key Realty Services in Whitinsville has added JOSELLE TURNER as a Realtor. Turner was previously the general manager of Valley Pub in Whitinsville, where she was involved in fundraisers and community activities.

College of the Holy Cross associate professor of economics OLENA STAVELEY-O’CARROLL has joined the Associated Industries of Massachusetts Board of Economic Advisors. She will be part of a group of experts who oversee the monthly AIM Business Confidence Index and advise AIM about economy-related public-policy issues. Staveley-O’Carroll holds a master’s and doctorate degree in Economics from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and earned her bachelor’s degree from Lakeland University in Herman, Wisconsin.

KATHERINE RECORD

Fallon Health has in Worcester hired KATHERINE RECORD as its vice president of Medicaid. In this role, Record will oversee Fallon Health’s three MassHealth accountable care organization partnership plans and its other Medicaid programs. Record was most recently an executive director at Beth Israel Lahey Health Performance Network. Record earned her bachelor’s degree at Georgetown University, a master’s degree and law degree from Duke University, and a master’s degree from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

DEBORA TORRES

Knight-Dik Insurance in Worcester has hired DEBORA TORRES as a sales producer and LISA CAIRA as a customer service account manager. Torres was previously personal lines sales producer at Provider Group Insurance Brokers in Needham, and Caira was previously employed by HUB International New England in Gardner.
