MARGARET MCEVOY-BALL is a lifelong resident of Worcester and has more than 30 years of experience in the technology industry. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Worcester State University and an MBA from Clark University in Worcester. JONATHAN SIGEL of Westborough is a partner in Mirick O’Connell’s labor, employment and employee benefits group and chair of the higher education group. He is a graduate of Bowdoin College in Maine and Emory University Law School in Georgia. CYNTHIA STRAUSS of Wellesley is a retired investment professional, having worked at Fidelity Investments for 23 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. GEORGE TETLER of Worcester is a partner at Bowditch & Dewey, LLP, with more than 40 years of business and finance law expertise. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Denison University in Ohio and a juris doctor from American University Washington College of Law. CHRISTINA VILLENA of Westborough is vice president of risk solutions at Hanover Insurance Group. She holds degrees from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania and Pepperdine University in California.
Dr. JEFF BAXTER, the chief medical officer for Spectrum Health System in Worcester, has received the excellence in best practices award from the Association for Behavioral Healthcare. He played an integral role in opening seven of Spectrum’s outpatient treatment centers and is an innovator in substance use disorder care.
Worcester nonprofit Open Sky Community Services has announced its new vice president of behavioral health, KAREN DUBY. She obtained her master of social work from Boston College. She will be responsible for oversight of all of the organization's behavioral health programs.
UMass Memorial Medical Group in Worcester has hired four new doctors: Dr. ANDREW GILLIS-SMITH in hematology/oncology, Dr. NASIFA NUR in internal medicine, Dr. PRAKASH PAUDEL, a hospitalist, and Dr. VRUSHALI SHAH, an endocrinologist. Gillis-Smith completed an internal medicine residency at Rhode Island Hospital and a hematology/oncology fellowship at the UMass Medical School, and today works at UMass Memorial Medical Center University Campus in Worcester. Nur earned her medical degree from the Sir Salimullah Medical College in Bangladesh, completed an internal medicine residency at Kent Hospital/Brown University in Rhode Island, and works at Lincoln Street Primary Care in Worcester. Paudel earned his medical degree from the Tribhuvan University in Nepal, completed an internal medicine residency at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, and works at UMass Memorial’s Marlborough Hospital and UMass Memorial Medical Center’s University and Memorial campuses. Shah earned her medical degree from the Pramukhswami Medical College in India, completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, and a fellowship in endocrine, diabetes and metabolism at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and works at UMass Memorial Medical Center’s University Campus.
ANGELA GORKY of Webster has been named an assistant branch manager at bankHometown’s Sturbridge office. Gorky joined the bank in 2017 as a teller and was most recently the teller supervisor in bankHometown’s Oxford office. She earned an associate degree from Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester.
RACHEL HALL of Whitinsville has been appointed the assistant vice president for human services by Bay State Savings Bank in Worcester, a role including oversight of the bank’s human resources functions. She was a human resources specialist at the New England Center for Children in Southborough before joining Bay State Savings Bank. She has an MBA from Assumption University in Worcester.
Dr. EDWARD MICHNA, a pain medicine specialist, has joined Milford Regional Medical Center in its Brigham and Women’s Center for Pain Medicine at Milford. Michna graduated from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, performed an internship at Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey, and a residency in anesthesia and a fellowship in pain medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
