REX MACAPINLAC has been promoted to marketing officer at Bay State Savings Bank in Worcester to manage the company’s marketing operations, media distribution and public relations. He joined the bank in 2017 as a marketing assistant and was named its 2018 employee of the year. He has a bachelor’s degree in marketing and content creation from Stonehill College in Easton.
UMass Memorial Health Care has three new doctors on staff. Dr. DANILO FUNA, an internal medicine physician at Leominster Internal Medicine, earned his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines and completed his residency at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester. Dr. ABDULRAOUF GHANDOUR, a family medicine physician at Sutton Internal Medicine, earned his medical degree from the Beirut Arab University in Lebanon. He completed a family medicine residency program and a geriatric medicine fellowship program at University Hospital – University of Missouri Health Care, and a family medicine residency at the American University of Beirut. Dr. KHURSHID A. KHURSHID, a psychiatrist at Community Neuroscience Services in Westborough, earned his medical degree from the University of Kashmir in India. He completed a psychiatry residency program at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and a combined internal medicine and psychiatry residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in sleep medicine and circadian rhythms at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.
DAVE RUSSELL has been named an account executive for tickets and memberships for the Worcester Railers. He joins the team from the Providence Bruins, where he worked as an inside ticket sales representative. The Northbridge native is a 2018 Nichols College graduate with a bachelor’s degree in sport management.
CHRISTOPHER McDERMOTT, the public affairs manager of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce, has been named one of 35 chamber professionals selected for a national program. The Business Leads Fellowship Program, sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, trains participants with resources, national expertise and a network of peers to help address critical education and workforce issues.
MARLENA K. EASTTY has joined Pat Hoey Productions of Auburn as its new vice president. Eastty has a business degree from Worcester State University and is enrolled in an MBA program at Nichols College in Dudley. She was most recently the program event coordinator for UMass Medical School in Worcester and previously worked for Pat Hoey Productions in Auburn from 2004 to 2015.
Rockland Trust has added to its Worcester commercial lending and wealth management team. GREG DiMARZIO was appointed vice president with the investment management group, KAREN NIRO was named vice president of treasury management services; EILEEN LESSARD was appointed as vice president of retail banking strategy; and PATRICK WIMBERLY was appointed as banking officer of retail banking strategy.
KARIN GAFFNEY of Littleton has been appointed vice president and commercial lender at Bay State Savings Bank’s 28 Franklin St. location in Worcester. Gaffney previously worked as vice president of commercial lending at Enterprise Bank in Leominster and Rockland Trust in Waltham. She has more than 30 years of banking experience and holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Clemson University in South Carolina.
