Worcester-based law firm Bowditch & Dewey hired registered patent attorneys KATHRYN V. CHELINI and KRISTA K. STONE, expanding its intellectual property practice. Chelini has a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Clarkson College of Technology in Potsdam, N.Y; a master's in computer science from Boston University; a master's in management from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a doctorate from New England School of Law in Boston. Stone earned a bachelor of science in biochemistry and a master's degree in elementary education, both from the University of Rochester, in Rochester, N.Y. She has a doctorate from Suffolk University Law School in Boston.
Worcester Comprehensive Education & Care's board of directors promoted JAIME SOTO JR. to executive director. He was previously the agency's deputy executive director and assumes his new role with the retirement of long-time executive director John Gardiner. Soto has been with WCEC for the past 13 years, working in different capacities.
Marlborough Savings Bank promoted JAMES F. CRONIN to business development officer. He was previously manager of the Marlborough branch for two years. Prior to that, he worked for Marlborough Cooperative Bank. He graduated from Merrimack College in North Andover with a bachelor's degree in economics. Cronin is a resident of Marlborough.
Worcester-based Saint-Gobain promoted ROBERT N. SMITH to vice president and general manager of Bonded and Superabrasives North America. Smith was previously vice president and general manager of Bonded Abrasives. He joined Saint-Gobain in 1978. He has a bachelor's in business from Clark University in Worcester. Smith lives in Grafton.
Webster Five promoted BERNARD P. GAGNON to vice president/group leader in the bank's business lending division and promoted JESSICA A. McGARRY to business lending officer. Gagnon has a bachelor's degree in management and an MBA, both from Nichols College in Dudley; and a master's in marketing and technological innovation from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. McGarry, a Worcester resident, has a bachelor's in business administration from Nichols College. She was most recently a credit officer in the bank's business banking division.
Tufts University, with a campus in Grafton, named DAVID R. HARRIS provost and senior vice president. He was senior associate dean at Cornell University's College of Arts and Sciences and a former deputy assistant secretary in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Harris has a bachelor's degree in human development and social policy and a Ph.D. in sociology.
Worcester-based AllCom Credit Union hired CHRISTINE ALVES as financial services representative and FRAN MAYNARD as head teller.
Worcester-based Reliant Medical Group hired internist DR. BIBEK KOIRALA to work at Saint Vincent Hospital. He received his medical degree from Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, Nepal, and completed his internship and residency at Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, N.Y.
