, president and CEO of UniBank in Whitinsville, has been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the new American Bankers Association. The new American Bankers Association (ABA) is the result of a recent merger of America's Community Bankers and the American Bankers Association, the two largest trade groups representing bankers across the country.

GLENN GERTRIDGE

will serve on the advisory board for the UMass Dartmouth Business Innovation Research Center. Gertridge is the manager of business development and strategic partnering at the Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership in Worcester. BIRC is a UMass Dartmouth research center designed to conduct research and disseminate knowledge about emerging business practices.

Framingham-based GI Co. Inc. has appointed Dr.

DOUGLAS PETERSON

to its scientific advisory board. For more than 30 years, Peterson has been on the forefront of oral health and diagnostics research and education. He has received wide recognition nationally and internationally for his work involving oral complications in cancer patients.

Bay State Savings Bank announced several promotions.

has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer. He joined the bank in 1997 and has had exten-sive involvement in many areas.
