Marlboro-based Medical Solutions Inc. has named KENNETH FISCHER as its new vice president of finance and CFO. He has most recently served as an independent consultant providing financial advisory services to start-ups and other companies. Previously, he was CEO of the North American operations for Lurgi Lentjes, AG, an engineering firm. Before that, he served at Babcock Borsig Capital Corp. as president and CEO. Fisher also worked with the U.S. subsidiary of a Danish company, Bruel & Kjaer Instruments Inc.

KURT BINDER has rejoined the Worcester law firm of Seder & Chandler LLP as a partner. His practice focus is general business matters, employment law, and commercial litigation. He was previously a partner with Morrison Maloney LLP, which has offices in the Northeast.

GARRY MACDONALD has been named vice president of engineering and new business development for Hudson-based Hyper-tronics. He will oversee Hypertronics’ strategic marketing, new product development, application support and marketing communication functions. He fomerly served as director of marketing and

director of engineering for AMETEK Power Instruments.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute has promoted LINDA CARRE LOOFT to assistant vice president for government and community relations. In her new role, Looft will serve as senior liaison to federal, state, and local officials for the school’s academic and research communities. Looft has played an instrumental role in attracting grants to the university, and will continue to work closely with government agencies to obtain research funding in targeted areas.

The Braley Wellington Group has appointed ROBERT GAUDETTE of Grafton to its commercial division. Gaudette, formerly of the Protector Group, will work from the firm’s Millbury branch, the C.D. Whitney Insurance Agency. Gaudette has expertise in many areas of property and casualty insurance with a strong focus in manufacturing, construction, HVAC, and auto related risks.

JOSEPH RUTH III has been appointed senior vice president of operational development at Fitchburg Savings Bank FSB. Ruth has 30 years experience in bank services. Prior to being account manager for Diebold, he worked at Banknorth, CFX Bank and Safety Fund National Bank. He also manages the Lunenburg Phillies semi-pro baseball team.

Fidelity Bank has hired RICHARD HOWARD II as accounting manager and KATHLEEN COMEAU as loan servicing manager. Howard will manage the accounting functions and accounting department personnel for the bank and its subsidiaries. Most recently, he was assistant manager at Framingham Municipal Federal Credit Union. Comeau will oversee all loan servicing and will work closely with commercial loan and mortgage lending departments. She previously served as a vice president, small business portfolio manager for TD Banknorth Massachusetts.

Uxbridge-based AC Technology has hired ERIC KLEIN as distribution sales manager. Most recently, Klein was a Northeast regional manager for Toshiba. AC Technology, a member of the Lenze Group, develops, manufactures, supports and markets a complete range of motion control solutions including servo drives and motors, clutches and brakes, gears and gear motors, and variable frequency AC motor drives.

Marlboro-based Workscape, which provides outsourced benefits and compensation solutions, has hired PAUL FRANCOEUR as regional sales manager, compensation and performance. He is responsible for sales of Workscape products in the Western portion of the country, with an office based in Yorba Linda, CA. He previously served as Western director, sales manager for Employease in Atlanta. Prior to that, he was district vice president for Ceridian Employer Services, focusing on the southwest region. He also was director of sales for Zurich Payroll Solutions/PayUSA.

Fitchburg-based Fidelity Bank has appointed BRENDA YOUNG as branch services manager for the bank’s Gardner office, where she will oversee daily operations. Young started her career at Fitchburg Savings Bank, starting as teller and becoming assistant branch manager. At Clinton Savings Bank she also served as assistant branch manager.

TIMOTHY FLANAGAN, president of Framingham State College, has been selected to fill a three-year term on the Committee on Teacher Education of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. The AASCU, a Washington-based organization of 435 state colleges and universities, named Flanagan to the Committee on Teacher Education to advise on topics such as promoting partnerships between colleges and K-12 schools, addressing teacher shortages, and building the professional development of teachers and administrators.

Marlboro-based Lendia Inc., an outsource solutions provider for the mortgage industry, has hired ALEX WU as a Java developer. Wu, who previously worked for General Electric and Taxware, among others, will be responsible for helping to maintain updates for the company’s LendiaLogix software system. Wu was also a software consultant at Tongfeng Scientific, a China-based business firm specializing in railroad electrical parts.

JOY CONWAY has joined Mass-Development as senior vice president, community and business development. She will oversee and manage all community and business development projects, programs and initiatives. She previously served as senior vice president for government and industry affairs for the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. SHYLA MATTHEWS has joined MassDevelopment as vice president, community development for the state’s central region. She has worked since 2000 for BJ’s Wholesale Club as a senior financial analyst. RICHARD MONTUORI has been promoted to executive vice president, Devens. He will assume all managerial responsibilities for Devens, where he will plan, organize, direct and coordinate interdepartmental activities and special projects. KAREN CARVALHO has been promoted to vice president, finance. She joined MassDevelopment in 1998 as an accountant and subsequently served as accounting manager and senior financial analyst. MIKE MITCHELL has been promoted to vice president, planning and development in the agency’s real estate department. He previously served as assistant project manager for the Devens Commerce Center and for the directorate of community activities at Fort Devens.
