The Mount Pleasant Country Club in Boylston is being sold to long-time club member and Worcester native Regan Remillard, the club's board of governors announced today.
The sale of the member-owned club is expected to take place by Dec. 31, according to a statement released by Mount Pleasant. No purchase price was disclosed.
The club said Remillard will make significant capital investments in all of the club's buildings, swimming pool area, grounds and golf course. Joel Gore, the club's president-elect, said an overwhelming majority of members approved of the sale in a vote this week, largely because of Remillard's status as a member. "Many of us have played golf with Regan over the years, know him, and know of his love for the course and the club," Gore said. "Many members had expressed concern over who might actually one day own the club. The fact that it's Regan Remillard ... solidified and brought out the overwhelming support in favor of the sale."
Remillard added: "Mount Pleasant Country Club has been a great, member-owned club for over 50 years. I feel both honored by, and grateful for, the trust shown in me ... It will be my privilege and pleasure to assume responsibility" for the course and the rest of its property.
Mount Pleasant also houses recreational facilities, as well as space for business meetings and social gatherings such as wedding receptions.
The statement did not offer specifics about Remillard's plans for the club, but said he will discuss them more "in the near future."
