Mothers-to-beware

New mothers watch out: A report by the Kaiser Family Foundation says that the trend of pushing consumers toward more cost-conscious health insurance plans could end up adding significant maternity ward bills. The study compared out-of-pocket costs for birthing procedures under traditional and consumer driven health plans, finding that consumer driven plan costs were up to four times higher. A normal, C-section delivery, for example, cost up to $2,244 out of pocket under a traditional plan, but as much as $9,818 under a consumer driven one.
