The unemployment rate dropped in 17 of the state’s 22 labor markets in September, including in Worcester, Framingham and the Leominster-Fitchburg Gardner area, which each added jobs last month.
Overall, the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped last month from 8.8 percent to 8.4 percent, according to the state’s Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. The national unemployment rate is 9.6 percent. Despite the unemployment rate dropping, the state still lost 20,900 jobs in September and another 3,000 jobs in August.
Statewide, all but one labor market had a lower unemployment rate in September compared to a year earlier.
