The Morgan family, founder of Worcester’s Morgan Construction Co., has given Worcester Polytechnic Institute a $2.1 million gift to endow the school’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
The center will now be known as the Morgan Center for Teaching and Learning.
The gift was made by Morgan-Worcester Inc., the philanthropic foundation of Morgan Construction, the heirs of the company’s founder Charles Hill Morgan, and the Beagary Charitable Trust.
Morgan Construction was purchased by Siemens VAI in 2008.
Five generations of the Morgan family have served on the WPI board of trustees. Philip R. Morgan is currently on the board. The family has also funded WPI scholarships and capital projects, including the construction of the Morgan Hall dormitory.
