The number of job vacancies advertised online in July increased by 139,200 over June to 4.3 million, according to the Conference Board.
The Conference Board said there were 3.5 unemployed people for every advertised vacancy in June, down from a peak of 4.7 unemployed people per job recorded last October.
Each month, about 43,000 new online job advertisements are posted. Demand has been strong on the East Coast and modest elsewhere.
The strongest demand for employees has been in management and administrative support positions.
