About half of all employers could soon offer health savings accounts, suggests a report from Illinois-based human resources firm Hewitt and Associates. Hewitt reported that HSAs are becoming more popular as a way to control costs. More than 20 percent of companies offer or plan to offer a high-deductible health plan with an HSA by the end of this year, and more than half are considering offering HSAs at a later date. Last year, Hewitt found that only 3 percent of employees elected to use HSAs. But most companies expect that number to reach 20 percent in five years.
