Monster allies with online newspaper ad co

Maynard-based online job search and recruitment company Monster has joined with Adicio, a California company that provides classified advertising software to newspapers.

As part of the deal, Monster customers will be able to purchase print advertising from Adicio's media clients by later this year.

Also, Adicio's clients will have the opportunity to use the Monster brand to attract job and employee-seekers to their online classifieds.

Adicio will also provide tech support to companies that choose to sign with Monster recruitment services.

Doug Klinger, president of Monster North America, said the partnership "is a key component of our strategy to drive market share, particularly among the small and medium-sized business segment."

Also, Monster Worldwide announced that it is offering certain holders of stock options the chance to increase the exercise price on those options.

In a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, the company said the offer is meant to limit potential adverse personal tax consequences that may apply to the options, which were granted in 1999 as part of a long-term incentive plan.
