The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has fined BATG Environmental Inc. of Taunton $102,070 for failing to complete closure activities at the Millville Landfill.
According to the DEP, BATG failed to install a 12-inch protective layer and vegetative seeding over the top of the landfill, finish installing a stormwater sedimentation basin and stormwater controls or finish repairing and replacing six monitoring wells. The measures were part of a consent order that the company agreed to in June 2006.
BATG must pay a $12,070 penalty for previous violations of the DEP solid waste management regulations at the site, plus $90,000 for failing to follow the consent order.
