After half a year in the works, construction of a 59-unit residential development on Canal Street in Millbury has broken ground.
The town approved the project in September, including 110 parking spaces and seven affordable units, according to a Notice of Decision. The site plan was first proposed in April.
The project was proposed by Westborough-based Elite Home Builders, LLC, which has developed apartment and condominium communities throughout the region.
The firm developed Cobblestone Village Apartments, located half a mile down the road from the new site of development in Millbury.
Elite Home Builders LLC bought the three-acre lot for $800,000 in March, according to the Worcester South District Registry of Deeds. The space is currently vacant, nestled next to the Canal Street-Elm Street intersection near Millbury’s downtown.
