Milford Regional Medical Center has reopened a cancer and palliative care floor after $7 million in renovations to patient rooms and other areas.
The hospital reopened the wing on Monday after renovations to the 55-year-old fourth floor with upgrades including converting two- and four-bed rooms into 15 private rooms. The more spacious rooms were designed with palliative patients specifically in mind, the hospital said.
Milford Regional said a priority during the renovations was creating a soothing atmosphere, with murals and comfortable chairs.
Milford Regional has a collaboration with Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center in Boston to provide cancer care services in Milford. Edward Kelly, Milford Regional's president and CEO, cited that partnership in wanting to remake the hospital's fourth floor for cancer and palliative patients.
