Milford Regional opens blood donor center

Milford Regional Medical Center will open a new blood donation center on Feb. 22, increasing blood drive capacity in partnership with The American Red Cross, the hospital said Tuesday.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m.

The new center is located in space that was occupied by the hospital’s old emergency room, just off the waiting room of the new Imaging Center. The emergency room was replaced when the Meehan Family Pavilion, which includes a larger emergency department, opened in 2015.

Blood drives will be held twice a month in the new blood donation center.
