Milford Regional Medical Center has added two da Vinci Xi robotic systems to its facilities, bringing the hospital’s total to three.
The hospital has performed 2,400 surgeries using the robotic technology since 2013, when the center acquired its first da Vinci Xi, according to a Monday announcement.
The expansion will increase the number of minimally invasive surgical procedures the hospital is able to perform. These procedures tend to include smaller incisions, quicker recoveries, and shorter lengths of stay in hospital, according to Milford Regional.Â
The system can be used for some general and urology surgeries, as well as weight loss and thoracic surgeries, per the announcement.Â
