Verallia North America's Milford plant earned Energy Star plant certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the company announced today.
Energy Star certification is a symbol of energy efficiency, indicating a company follows energy-efficient business practices. Verallia North America, a container glass packing company, is the first of its kind to earn the certification, according to a statement by the company. Two other Verallia facilities in California in Oklahoma also achieved Energy Star certification.
Verallia uses recycled glass to produce its containers, saving energy, reducing emissions, and cutting down on the use of new raw materials, according to Verallia North America President Joseph R. Grewe.
Companies with the certifications can use the Energy Star label on their products. The label can be found on more than 60 different kinds of products today, the company said.
