A West Boylston woman with banking and small business experience has been selected as the next leader of the Milford Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC).
Siobahn Bohnson began her tenure as the chamber’s president and CEO Jan. 2. She replaces Barry Feingold, who announced in October that he would leave to become vice president of a hospitality profit management firm in Peru.
“Feingold’s pending departure was unexpected and this area will miss him,” MACC board chair Shefali Desai said in a December statement. “With every departure, however, comes an opportunity. Our members will soon benefit from a new leader as the voice of our business community.”
Bohnson most recently oversaw sales and service at Country Bank’s 15 branches as its vice president of retail banking. Prior to that, she owned and operated a maternity clothing store for six years.
Bohnson said she plans to spend January getting to know current chamber members as well as reaching out to businesses that are no longer members.
“I really want to find out specifics as to what our members think and feel about the partnership,” Bohnson said in a statement. “The next step then becomes reaching out to the businesses that aren’t currently members … and hav(ing) conversations around discovering what their needs are.”
Bohnson was recently elected the first female selectman in West Boylston’s history and also served on the town’s school committee for seven years.
