Milford medical and scientific equipment manufacturer Waters Corp. is planning to build a $215-million facility to support its expanding precision chemistry operation in Taunton.
The company’s Taunton facility services as a main manufacturing hub of chromatographic equipment used in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, materials, food, and biomedical research applications.
The facility is expected to be operational by 2022, Waters Corp. said in a press release Tuesday.
Although it reported a $550-million tax bill to repatriate foreign earnings, Waters Corp. said earlier this year that recently passed federal tax reforms will allow the company to reinvest back into the business.
On Tuesday, the company said return on this investment will be enhanced because of the company’s increased access to capital due to tax reform.
"Our portfolio of innovative precision chemistry products is critical to scientific advancements in the life, materials and food sciences," said Christopher O'Connell, Waters Corporation chairman and CEO. “The expansion of our Taunton facility will ensure Waters customers continue to benefit from the most innovative chromatography particle R&D and the highest quality production in the industry."
