A Microsoft retail store at the Natick Mall is one of seven the software company will open this month, with a grand opening celebration scheduled for June 8.
The store expands on the company's previous presence as a kiosk, and joins competitor Apple Inc.'s Natick Mall store, which opened in 2007. According to a statement from Microsoft, an array of products and services will be available in Natick, including software, training services, business-ready PCs and phones, and custom lid and skin design services for laptops, phones and Xbox products.
A ribbon-cutting is slated for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, and will feature a presentation of $1 million in software grants to local community organizations by Susan Hauser, Microsoft's worldwide corporate vice president. Doors open at 11, and attendees will have access to deals on products, as well as free tickets to a special concert by the band Weezer, which will be held in the parking lot of the Crowne Plaza Natick, across from the mall on Route 9, according to the company.
Other openings planned for June include retail stores in Missouri, Hawaii, Oregon, Illinois, Michigan and Indiana, according to Microsoft. The company also announced on its Facebook page in May that it's planning to open a store in the Burlington Mall.
