Micron Solutions lands $5M defense contract

Fitchburg contract manufacturer Micron Solutions has scored another sizeable contract, this one for $1 million annually over five years.
The company did not disclose the identity of its customer, saying only it is an innovation leader in the defense market deploying the devices made in Fitchburg internationally.
Micron’s engineers have worked closely with the customer to fortify what the company called high precision optical components designed to perform in very harsh environments.
“As a USA manufacturer, there is nothing better than knowing that the hard work of our team at Micron is contributing to the safety and performance of troops in the field,” CEO Bill Laursen said in a comment.
The contract follows the company’s August announcement of a $3.7-million contract with an unnamed medical device company.
The two contracts come after a string of leadership changes beginning last fall, including Laursen, CFO Wayne Coll and a reshuffling of Micron's board of directors.
