The national arts and crafts chain Michaels is taking the place of a former A.C. Moore store in Worcester's Lincoln Plaza.
The new Michaels location will be the Texas company's first in Worcester. It has other Central Massachusetts stores at the Shoppes at Blackstone Valley in Millbury, Northborough Crossing, Highland Commons in Hudson, Water Tower Plaza in Leominster, the Center at Hobbs Brook in Sturbridge, Shoppers World in Framingham and Charles River Plaza in Bellingham.
Michaels didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on a planned opening date. The store is hiring for jobs now.
A.C. Moore, part of New Jersey-based Nicole Crafts, said in 2019 it would close all of its locations, with Michaels due to assume leases for up to 40 A.C. Moore locations. Michaels opened at the former A.C. Moore at Shoppers World last year.
The Lincoln Plaza A.C. Moore was one of three retailers in a row that closed at the shopping center, along with Staples and Barnes & Noble.
