Officials at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham will celebrate the opening of the hospital’s new Cancer Center and affiliation with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for cancer care on Thursday afternoon.
The state-of-the-art Cancer Center was extensively renovated and features a modern atmosphere, new patient exam rooms and a new infusion area, according to a statement issued Tuesday. The Cancer Center also features new technology that will allow for better accuracy and treatment of a broader range of cancers, MetroWest Medical said.
A clinical affiliation agreement between MetroWest Medical and Boston’s Beth Israel was approved by the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission in September, allowing the providers to work jointly to deliver oncology services along with several other services.
A ribbon cutting will take place on the ground floor of the hospital on Lincoln Street at 4:30 p.m.
