MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham has named John Whitlock, Jr. its CEO, after he held the role in interim for six months. Whitlock was formerly CFO at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester as well as for the Massachusetts market for parent company Tenet Healthcare, based in Dallas.
Whitlock took on the role after the previous CEO, David Elgarico vacated the position following a seven-month tenure. In his role, he will oversee Framingham Union Hospital and Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick, both part of MWMC, according to a Wednesday press release from the center.
“Throughout John’s time with Saint Vincent Hospital and MetroWest Medical Center, John has developed a strong team, improved performance and driven strategic growth,” said Carolyn Jackson, Tenet’s Massachusetts market CEO in the press release. “We are confident he is the right leader to take MWMC successfully into the future during this challenging time in healthcare. He has already gained significant momentum there during his tenure as interim CEO.”
Tenet Healthcare did not immediately respond to a request for information about Whitlock’s role of CFO at Saint Vincent. He is still listed as holding the position on the hospital’s website.
Whitlock earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and holds a Master’s degree in accounting from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
MetroWest announced its appointment of a new CFO on June 28.
