MetroWest Medical Center matched the most recent state average for how often patients are readmitted, according to new data released Wednesday from the state Center for Health Information and Analysis.
The hospital, which has hospital campuses in Framingham and Natick, had a readmission rate of 15.8 percent. That percentage of patients returned to a hospital within 30 days of their first admittance. They usually returned to MetroWest but were also readmitted to other hospitals.
Patients at MetroWest most often returned for heart failure, but also for blood infections, alcohol abuse and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. More than one-third of readmittances occurred within a week, the report found.
