MetroWest foundation receives $1.4 million gift

Crossroads Community Foundation (CCF), a Natick-based community foundation for MetroWest towns, received an anonymous gift of $1.4 million to be used to establish the Concord CommonWeal Fund.

The endowment fund will be used to expand Crossroads' "Youth in Philanthrophy" program, an initiative to educate youths about philantrophy and the grant-making process.  The program will at first expand into five public and private Concord-area schools this fall, in addition to the schools already included in the program.  Eight MetroWest schools throughout Acton-Boxboro, Framingham, Needham and Weston have already run the program.

Students who participate will help determine which MetroWest nonprofit organizations will receive grants, and present their choices to the CCF's Board of Trustees.
