MetroWest Agency Head Resigns

Donna Jacobs, director of the Metrowest Growth Management Committee is leaving the Framingham-based agency to start her own planning consultancy, Cornerstone Community Planning. She was with the committee for five years.

The committee is an arm of the Metropolitan Area Planning Council and includes representation from Framingham, Holliston, Marlborough, Natick, Southborough, Wayland, Wellesley and Weston. It provides technical assistance to towns on planning, growth and development, as well as transportation projects.

Her new company will be based from her home in Stow for time being, she said. She leaves her position tomorrow and will officially open her office on Monday.

"I'm really excited about this. I think this is the perfect time for me to start this. I've got over 25 years of experience and I have a lot to offer communities," Jacobs said.

Jacobs said possible projects for her new company include working with towns that need specific regulations written in order to comply with new state storm water management legislation. Jacobs wrote wetlands regulations for Stow when state wetlands regulations changed many years ago, she said.

Staff from the MAPC will cover Jacobs' duties while the committee searches for a permanent replacement.
