Medtronic, an Ireland-based healthcare technology company with a facility in Littleton, will partner with Chicago-based GE Healthcare to support the growing number of medical procedures now occurring outside of hospitals.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increase in procedures in facilities outside traditional hospitals, which is expected to continue, according to a Thursday press release from the two firms.
The companies’ partnership aims to improve access to ambulatory surgery centers and office based labs, where more procedures are happening. The collaboration will offer extensive product portfolios, financial solutions, and service.
Medtronic will provide a portfolio of products for service lines in both ambulatory surgery centers and office based labs, including cardiac rhythm, pain management, and peripheral vascular products. The firm will also offer service to customers on issues like reimbursement support and remote healthcare.
"As our customers open centers outside of the hospital, they are looking for support beyond the devices used in medical procedures," said Adam King, senior director of U.S. enterprise accounts and ambulatory surgery centers at Medtronic, in a written statement.
Medtronic is based in Dublin, Ireland and has locations in 150 countries. Its two Massachusetts facilities are in Littleton and Danvers.
