MedPost, a national chain of urgent care centers, will open three new clinics in Central Massachusetts next month -- its first clinics in the northeast, the company exclusively told Worcester Business Journal.
The company told WBJ it expects its three new Massachusetts urgent care clinics -- located in Wayland, Northborough and Franklin -- to be up and running by early next month. Each clinic will employ about 10 people, according to MedPost. The Franklin and Wayland locations are affiliated with MetroWest Medical Center, and the Northborough clinic is a Saint Vincent Hospital affiliate. Having those partnerships will allow for a better coordination of care, according to a statement from the company.
The company decided to expand to Massachusetts because it wants to provide convenient health care to as many people as possible, the company said in a statement to WBJ.
“Our affiliations with MetroWest Medical Center and Saint Vincent Hospital allow us to coordinate care in instances where our patients require follow-up care, or if a higher level of care is needed. This allows us to provide a fully integrated continuum of care for these communities so that patients can be treated in the most cost-effective setting and with the most appropriate level of care,” MedPost CEO Eric Enderle said in an email.
MedPost currently has walk-in clinics in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas, according to its website. All three Massachusetts centers will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, according to the site.
Several other new walk-in clinics are scheduled to open in the region this summer. Harrington HealthCare System is opening its second urgent care center in Oxford in July, and a CareWell Urgent Care center with a UMass Memorial Health Care affiliation will open in August.
Reliant Medical Group opened a new ReadyMED urgent care center on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester in March, and a former research-and-development center in Natick is scheduled to be renovated into an urgent care center in August.
