Medford Firm Fined By State
Lillian Gately and her company L&H Construction Inc. of Medford have agreed to pay $160,000 in restitution to 24 employees as well as $10,000 in penalties for failing to pay proper wages, according to an announcement from Attorney General Martha Coakley.
Coakley said her office received a complaint in January alleging L&H failed to pay the proper wage for work done at the Patrick Lyndon School in West Roxbury.
An audit confirmed that 24 employees at the project were not paid the going rate from March 2006 through February 2008. Violations at other projects in the state were also found.
The audit found that the certified payroll records submitted by Gately and her company to the “awarding authorities” did not match the company’s general payroll.
