The Marlborough Economic Development Corp. will hold a meeting at the New England Sports Center later this month to discuss how the recreational center can help draw visitors and tourists to the MetroWest area.
The Center, which recently completed construction on its sixth ice rink, is responsible for supplying occupants for almost half of the hotel rooms occupied in the city on weekends in 2011.
The Center is expecting a six- to 10-percent increase in use next year because of the new rink.
The MEDC wants hotel, restaurant and other service businesses to discuss what opportunities the Center may have for Marlborough and the region at an event on Dec. 16 from 9:30 to 11:30 at the Sports Center, at 121 Donald Lynch Boulevard in Marlborough.
Those interested in attending should RSVP to aperera@marlboroughedc.com by Friday.
