Tim McGourthy, executive director of the Worcester Regional Research Bureau, will leave the nonprofit organization by the end of March.

McGourthy has served as WRRB executive director since February 2014, joining the organization immediately after working as chief development officer for the City of Worcester and CEO of the Worcester Redevelopment Authority. He serves as an adjunct faculty member at Clark University in Worcester and previously worked as director of policy at the Boston Redevelopment Authority.

He didn't disclose where his next job will be, although he expects to have an announcement from his new employer in the coming weeks.

The WRRB board already has put out a call for a new executive director. The board has no timeline for McGourthy's replacement, although preference will be given to people who apply by March 31.

Founded in 1985, WRRB has put out nearly 250 public service reports on topics ranging from economic development and Worcester downtown parking to municipal finance and retired employees' healthcare liability. In November, WRRB teamed with Worcester Business Journal to put out a report entitled City of Immigrants on immigrant entrepreneurs in Worcester.

WRRB operates on an annual budget of about $500,000, according to its filings with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. In 2016, the last year for which data is available, McGourthy's total compensation was $157,015.
