Mayflower Medicinals, a proposed recreational cannabis retailer on Park Avenue in Worcester, is expected to open before the end of the year, the brand’s parent company said in an earnings report.
The store has received approvals from both the city’s License Commission and Planning Board in July and May, respectively. An application is in with the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission, but the agency has only granted a provisional license.
Up next is the granting of a final state license if all requirements are met. The company must wait again until the agency authorizes the store to open after a final round of checks.
When approved, the Worcester store will be the company’s first adult-use store in Massachusetts.
The company said its 34,000-square-foot Holliston cultivation and manufacturing facility provides wholesale products to more than 15 licensed dispensaries in the state.
The company has just one medical dispensary open on Harvard Avenue in Boston. Another store is planned for Lowell.
Good Chemistry is the only authorized open recreational marijuana retailer in Worcester. Along with Mayflower, Mission Massachusetts and Trichome Health Corp. have been issued provisional licenses for Worcester retail stores.
