May Golf Rounds Up In Mass.

Despite above-average temperatures and precipitation, Massachusetts golf courses fared better in May than they did during the same month a year ago, according to PGA PerformanceTrak.

After playing 2,547 rounds of golf during May 2011, courses recorded 2,680 rounds this May, an increase of 5.2 percent.

Massachusetts and a majority of states have seen increases in rounds and revenues of 10 percent or more so far this year compared to the same period last year.

Nationwide, rounds played are up 19.1 percent so far this year and days open are up 17.9 percent, which PerformanceTrak said could account for some of the increases in revenue and rounds played.
