Three Central Mass. sober housing groups received a cumulative $201,675 from the Center for Community Recovery Innovations, Inc., a nonprofit subsidiary of MassHousing, the government agency announced on Wednesday.
Recipients include South Middlesex Non-Profit Housing Corp. in Framingham, which received $51,675 to rehabilitate and preserve 11 single-occupancy units for young men in recovery; GAAMHA, Inc. in Gardner, which received $75,000 to acquire and renovate a house and farm property to create 16 units of sober housing for men; and, Jeremiah’s Inn, which received $75,000 to acquire and rehabilitate a multi-family house to create 20 new units of sober housing for men in Worcester.
“These CCRI grants will provide critical funding to help some of the commonwealth’s most vulnerable citizens have a safe, sober home, which is one of the most important factors in achieving successful outcomes for people struggling with substance misuse,” said MassHousing Executive Director Chrystal Kornegay, in a statement.
The funding earmarked for Central Mass. is part of a statewide funding round worth $391,164, according to MassHousing.
