A MassHealth program providing free transportation to COVID-19 vaccination sites has been expanded to include more members.
Individuals who are eligible include those in Family Assistance, MassHealth Limited, Children's Medical Security Plan, and Health Safety Net programs.
Approval is needed first, except for those in a Senior Care Options, One Care plan or Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, or PACE, program. They must also have a vaccine appointment. MassHealth members in Standard, CommonHealth, and CarePlus programs were already receiving transportation services for vaccines.
The expanded MassHealth transportation program began Feb. 17 and takes place in coordination with the state's regional transportation brokers. The program can provide transportation to a vaccination site, including major locations such as at Worcester State University, or to medical providers who are eligible to administer the vaccine.
