Massachusetts’ unemployment rate was down one-tenth of a percentage point in December to 3.3%, after the economy added 6,300 jobs, according to a Friday data release from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The industries which saw the largest gains in employment since November were professional, scientific, and business services, trade, transportation, and utilities, and leisure and hospitality, according to a Friday press release from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.
The state’s labor force decreased by an estimated 7,500 in December.
Year-over year Massachusetts gained 134,500 jobs. With largest-gaining industries being leisure and hospitality, education and health services, and professional business services. Over the year, the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was down by 1.3 percentage points.
Massachusetts’ unemployment rate is slightly better than the national rate of 3.5%.
