Massachusetts public housing authorities will receive $3.6 million in federal funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, paid for through the CARES Act, Rep. Jim McGovern announced in a press release on Friday.
The funding will come by way of supplemental grants through the HUD Operating Fund and Tenant-Based Rental Assistance, which funds the Housing Choice Voucher program. Neither grant will have to be paid back.
Central Mass. recipients include Worcester, which will receive $2,710,139, as well as $35,768 for Webster, $70,617 for Shrewsbury, $20,276 for Oxford, $88,688 for Leominster, $13,164 for Holden, $9,010 for Bridge of Central Massachusetts, $7,112 for Bellingham, $35,740 for Auburn, $130,126 for Franklin County Regional and $12,886 for Athol.
